Tune your T87A TCM with HP Tuners
Ready to tune your transmission with HP Tuners? We are pleased to offer tuning support for T87A TCM-equipped 2017+ GM vehicles in the latest version of VCM Suite.
Due to the complexity of this controller, all T87A TCMs must be upgraded via one of the upgrade options below to enable tuning in VCM Suite (BETA). After the upgrade is complete, users must license their controller for (4) GM Credits if using an MPVI device, or (4) Universal Credits using an MPVI2, MPVI2+, or MPVI3 device. Once licensed, users can access important transmission parameters in VCM Editor within shift scheduling, shift pressures, shift timing, torque management, and more to improve drivability and power delivery.
The T87A TCM can be found the following 6-speed, 8-speed, and 10-speed transmission equipped vehicles:
Supported GM vehicles with 8-speed transmission and T87A TCM:
- 2017-2019 Chevrolet Silverado
- 2017-2019 Chevrolet Colorado
- 2017-2019 Chevrolet Corvette
- 2017-2019 Chevrolet Camaro
- 2017-2019 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV
- 2017-2019 Cadillac ATS, ATS-V, CTS, CT6, and CTS-V
- 2017-2019 GMC Sierra, Yukon, Yukon XL, and Yukon Denali XL

TCM Upgrade Only Service
Our upgrade-only option will upgrade your T87A TCM to enable tuning. Simply send us your TCM and we'll send it back to you fully upgraded for tuning. Make sure to include your VIN when checking out (always double-check your VIN for accuracy).
Keep in mind that with this option, your TCM will be returned to you with the same programming. If you want the TCM to be pre-programmed to a different VIN, this is not the option for you. Please select "Unlock & Program" instead.
TCM Upgrade & Program Service
Our upgrade and program option allows you to send in your T87A TCM (new or old) to be upgraded and pre-programmed for your specific VIN. Once upgraded, your TCM will be "plug and play" and can be tuned immediately after licensing-no need for the GM factory tool. Simply select “Unlock & Program” from the dropdown box above and ensure you include your VIN (please double-check your VIN for accuracy).
If you are removing the T87A TCM from your vehicle and plan to reinstall it in the same vehicle, you do not require this service. Please select the "Unlock Only" option instead.
Note: Both service options require 1-3 business days (per TCM) to complete, not including shipping times.
Note: T87A TCM Services support a variety of 10LXXE-equipped vehicles. Our latest support covers the majority of 2017-2018 vehicles with the following exceptions/additional applications:
- 2017-2020 Camaro ZL1
- 2018 - Escalade, Suburban, Tahoe, Yukon
- 2019 - Camaro SS (excluding partial year switch to T93 TCMs)
Service Notes
- The TCM you send in should already be programmed prior to the upgrade service. If you choose to send in a spare TCM, you are responsible for providing us accurate vehicle information at the time you place your order and for later having the TCM programmed via a J2534 tool or OEM Dealer Diagnostic tool to your vehicle.
- After the TCM arrives at HP Tuners, an HP Tuners engineer will Upgrade the TCM and enable your HP Tuners software so that the TCM can then be licensed, edited, and flashed with HP Tuners software! This is a one-time upgrade that will not affect other operations of the TCM. The factory tools will still work for service and HP Tuners will then work for tuning!
- Once you receive the TCM back from upgrade, re-install the TCM back into the vehicle, and then you may tune the TCM with HP Tuners by licensing the TCM for (4) credits.
