HOOKER BLACKHEART Exhaust System, 2.5" (1988-1998 GM C1500 Truck & SUV 2WD LS & LT)

This Hooker Blackheart exhaust system is ideal for 2WD (4WD is available - BH14348) GM C1500 "OBS" projects that are planning on running a GM LS or LT engine but will work with nearly any V6 or V8 engine swap for this GMT400 chassis. Pair with swap exhaust manifolds (8502HKR, 8503HKR, BHS516, etc.) and adapter pipe kit BH14350 to accomplish two things: 1) fill the gap between the end of the manifold and 2.50-inch inlet Hooker Blackheart exhaust system and 2) easily incorporate a catalytic converter.

These parts were intended to work together and for compatibility with Hooker Blackheart engine mounting brackets listed for this vehicle application only. They are designed to provide the user with a means of installing the factory catalytic converters from a 1999-2006 5.3 or 6.0-liter Chevy Silverado truck (4.00-inch maximum diameter), into this vehicle application, within the stipulations/requirements published by CARB/EPA for emissions-legal engine changes. The ability of the final fabricated assembly to satisfy these requirements should be confirmed with local/state authorities prior to the installation of these components.

*Although listed as ending in 1998, this exhaust will fit the classic trucks and SUVs that continued on into 2002 with the same GMT400 chassis.

This product is engineered to facilitate the installation of a later model, emissions friendly engine into a vintage / classic vehicle. Federal guidelines indicate that an engine swap is allowable if one or more of the following conditions apply:
If there is a reasonable basis for knowing that emissions are not adversely affected as described in the EPA Tampering Policy dated November 23rd, 2020
The resulting vehicle is identical (with regard to all emissions related parts, engine design parameters and engine calibrations) to a certified configuration of the same or newer model year as the vehicle chassis The vehicle is a uncontrolled vehicle - Vehicles that were manufactured before emission control regulations took effect are called uncontrolled vehicles. Aftermarket parts regulations and anti-tampering laws do not apply to these vehicles
An EO legal engine swap kit is utilized (such as a GM EROD)
The vehicle is being used for Competition Use Only - Racing Use Only Vehicles are vehicles that are used exclusively for competition that are not registered and that may never be used on the street
